Subway Surfers

I worked at SYBO Games in Copenhagen as a Senior UI Artist on Subway Surfers from 2023-2024, before deciding to move back to the US to be closer to family. My responsibilities included UX design, UI asset creation and implementation, system design, and animation mock ups.

Shield Upgrade - Icon Development

Final Icon

I worked on the icon for a new “shield” powerup that was added to Subway Surfers. This icon design was challenging, as it had to look like an exciting new icon while still matching the style of previous powerup icons.

Shield Upgrade - VFX Concepts

Some sketches I created visualizing how the shield powerup would look in-game. These sketches were presented to our 3D/animation team who advised on what version would work best.

Ad Skip Tickets - Icon Design

A new currency of “Ad Tickets” was proposed as new edition to Subway Surfers - tickets that players could buy in order to skip any ads in the game. I worked on both the icon design and UI implementation of this new currency. I went through many iterations of the icon before landing on a ticket design that also reflected the colors of our in-game “ad” icon, which would hopefully help players make the connection.

Here are a few example of user flows that I put together for the Ad Skip Tickets. My process included a mix of Miro (for rough UX layouts) and Figma (for final art walkthroughs that would be submitted to the team for approval)

Missed Rewards Collection - Design and UX

I was tasked with developing a “Missed Rewards” system, where players would be prompted to collect rewards that they had not claimed during the last “season”. This was a very complex task both from a UI/UX and design perspective, and I took the lead on both writing the final game design document as well as creating the required UI.

Score Doubler Powerup - Icon Design and UX

This feature was for a Score Doubler powerup that could be unlocked by players for use in specific game modes. I developed the new icon, UX flows, and animations for this feature.
